“En Masse” means “all together,” and that philosophy is the heartbeat of everything they do. Led by founding partner Mike Shively and partner and design director Lucas Goldbach, who built En Masse on the belief that the best designs are born from collaboration—between architects, designers, clients, craftspeople, and the world around them. They view each client as a true creative partner, blending personal insight with architectural expertise to produce work that is both functional and beautiful.

Meet the Visionaries Behind En Masse
Founding partner Mike Shively brings a deeply collaborative philosophy to the firm, one shaped by nearly a decade of leading Mike Shively Architecture before evolving it into En Masse. Licensed in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Utah, Mike views architecture as a means to enhance life—building not just spaces but strong, empowered teams.
His colleague and partner Lucas Goldbach adds artistic depth and inventive flair to the studio. A lifelong creative inspired early on by a visit to Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater, Lucas has explored everything from design-build work in Ghana to thesis exhibitions at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Together, Mike and Lucas lead a team dedicated to creating thoughtful, inspired architecture—built en masse.
