Working From Home in Style: Home Office Design Inspiration

Now that we are all working from home, it can often be difficult to avoid distractions. Whether it’s children, the television, or the refrigerator, it can be hard to muster up the motivation to get to work. Having a dedicated work space in the home helps set aside those distractions and focus on your ever-increasing to-do list.

We’ve compiled ten home office designs and desks from our RNDD Members that are sure to boost creativity and inspire productivity. We hope they inspire you to design your own workspace at home. Whether you have an entire office to yourself, or even if all you can spare is a small corner, we’ve got inspiration for you.

The Perfect Desk for Small Spaces

Roll is a compact and feminine desk, deigned by Mario Ferrarini for Ligne Roset, boasting both broad and fine strokes. Constructed from natural varnished walnut-veneered multi-ply, its base is in Epoxy satin black lacquered steel. A cable port at the rear allows passage for cables. See more here.

Custom Built-Ins with a Touch of Luxury

This was a labor of love for a favorite client and mom of two grown daughters. It also happens to be the one room that interior designer, Donna Mondi of Donna Mondi Interior Design (DMID), won’t forget. DMID was given full latitude on the design and when it came to creating this home office space – they went all out on combining lush texture and bright colors to make it comfortable, cozy and functional— but with an edge. DMID partnered with Paoli Woodworking to create the built-in custom cabinetry that beautifully frames the room. To further enhance the space, the cabinetry was painted the same color as the walls in #homburggray by Sherwin Williams. This gorgeous blue-green teal shade helps give the built-ins a seamless connection to the room.

This home office space with a reading nook, built-in bookcases, and a cozy corner with a comfortable chair or chaise lounge is the perfect place to relax, read or get a little work done. See more here.

A Double Duty Home Office

When Scott Dresner of Dresner Design remodeled his Gold Coast Townhome, he decided to design a large home office on the first floor to run his business from. He wanted the office to also serve as a showroom of sorts to showcase a variety of cabinet styles he could demonstrate for clients. He incorporated file drawers made of Wenge veneer and upper cabinets designed with stainless trim and 3m acrylic inlays. A large, solid wood, white pickled oak unit houses Scott’s cabinetry samples, and the pop-art wallpaper infuses extra color and energy into the space helping to fuel Scott’s creativity on a daily basis. A Home Office that Sparks Joy

When it comes to advice on designing a home office, Staci Munic of Staci Munic Interiors feels that it’s not just about making the space beautiful, it’s also about providing yourself with an environment that brings you a sense of calm and joy. Surround yourself with objects, photos and art that bring you happiness, evoke positive memories, and create a space where you genuinely like to be. In this elegant home office, Staci incorporated a variety of beautiful lighting , including her client’s Nana’s antique chandelier, that can be softened when you need a moment of peace, as well as beautiful and comfortable seating, that once belonged to her parents, now upholstered in a mushroom velvet,  and, of course, ample storage.
