Two RNDD Design Firms Featured at the The 2023 Lake Forest Showhouse & Gardens

The Lake Forest Chapter of the Infant Welfare Society of Chicago is transforming a red brick Georgian-style Lake Forest home designed in the late 1960s by architect Walter Frazier for the 2023 Lake Forest Showhouse & Gardens.  This year RNDD designers Stone Textile Studio by Elizabeth Mollen and Vincere are participating.  Many RNDD members provided paint, rugs, art, plumbing and stone throughout the home.

Stone Textile Studio, The Jack & Jill Bath

We love a good collaboration and were so happy to have Interior + Product Designer Elizabeth Mollen of Stone Textile Studio and O’Brien Harris collaborate on the vanity in this bathroom.  Elizabeth created a whimsical space with bold pops of pattern and color by using her signature mix of modern pieces with unique vintage treasures.  She then transformed the space into a cool updated bathroom for the grown up “Jack + Jill”. Every project has a starting point and for Elizabeth it was an embroidery style wallcovering which she layered with a curated gallery wall of vintage art.  Benjamin Moore paint colors (via JC Licht) were pulled from the palette to create a custom hand painted floor “tile” pattern.  The geometric patterns extend to the hand-crafted vanity cabinet built by O’Brien Harris.  Plumbing fixtures via Studio 41 and smile vase by artist Zach Weber.

Vincere, The Living Room

With its grand proportions and Georgian symmetry, the expansive Living Room, designed by Vincere, is a meditation on luxury and comfort. From a morning coffee overlooking the lawn terrace to a chic cocktail party with the lights dimmed just so, this room evolves with its occupants’ whims. Sheathed in a beautiful slub silk wallpaper by de Gournay, the rooms subtle shimmer evokes simple elegance. A hand-knotted nearly room-size rug from Ariana Rugs at Lapchi is truly art for the floor, anchoring an array of heirloom quality pieces. The Ingrid Donat sculptured bronze and lacquer coffee table from Carpenters Workshop Gallery feels both modern and historical. Additional texture and depth are provided by custom-embroidered wool curtains from Holland & Sherry, while sumptuous upholstery fabrics from Cowtan & Tout wrap tastefully realized Chaddock pieces. The room also features products from fellow RNDD members: paint from JC Licht / Benjamin Moore. The overall sensibility is of a curated space that is spectacularly livable, as any proper living room should be.
