Our Favorite Design Products for Spring

The River North Design District (RNDD) consists of an amazing group of showrooms, the best in the city. Each showroom brings something beautiful unique to the table. With Spring finally in sight, we’ve rounded-up our favorite Spring products from our RNDD showrooms.

At The Golden Triangle, they love decorating outdoors and garden areas with Staddle Stones. Variously mis-described as a mushroom, a toadstool and saddle stone, staddle stones are remnants of our agricultural past. Mainly dating from the 17th and 18th centuries they were practical foundation stones, keeping wooden structures from rotting, with the cap also acting as a barrier to vermin trying to gain access to stores. They lost their usefulness as a support for grain stores and hay ricks during the 19th century with the change in farming practices and the way in which agricultural buildings were used, although photographs do show buildings being supported by staddle stones well into the 20th century.

Christopher Guy from Chicago Luxury Furniture Center is featuring their stunning Dandelion Mirror. Say goodbye to the dreary Winter by adding this golden flower to your home. The hand-carved petals radiate dramatically from the central convex glass of this unique wall mirror with beautiful gold leafing. Sized at 54×61″, it is a true statement piece, perfect for Spring.

Things are in full bloom at Lightology with the Heracleum Small Big O Pendant (top image). This hanging pendant, designed by Bertjan Pot for Moooi, is a perpetual Spring blossom of new branches with white diffusers and comes in a copper or nickel finish. Ninety LED modules totaling 25 watts are included.

And the Blom Table Lamp (bottom image) by Fontana Arte, literally looks like little Spring flowers and comes in a variety of bright, cheerful colors. It features an opaline diffuser with polycarbonate petals and an aluminum base. The light can be adjusted by moving the delicate petals.

Add some new life into an entire room with these bright and beautiful rugs from Organic Looms. The 9’1″ x 12’2″ wool/silk “Pink Haze” rug (top image) designed by Mitch Marmorstein, will carpet your floors with abstract pink blossoms. Photo by Studio M Photography.

Or add a splash of Spring green to your floors with the more traditional “Turkish Vintage OLV-227” wool rug (bottom image) measuring 9’6″ x 12’1″. Photo by Sarah Geraci.

Give your home’s facade a new look this Spring with Custom Mahogany Double Entry Doors in a Walnut Stain from Glenview Haus showcasing Rocky Mountain Metro Series Hardware. Glenview Haus produced these custom modern exterior doors using their advanced European Construction method and technology, ensuring minimal maintenance for this summer home during a wet and windy spring season.

A new season is the perfect time for a new kitchen. Eggersmann USA introduces a new natural stone, quartzite, to their Unique collection. This silvery-green Beola Nera (top image) has a riverbed texture hailing from the northern region of Italy. Titanium colored Aluminum surround compliments this natural beauty.

Eggersmann has received the very prestigious GOOD DESIGN award for their innovative WORK’s kitchen system (bottom image). The WORK’S is a vision for the modern home kitchen featuring an entire wall that transforms into multi-functioning accessories and storage used for daily cooking and preparation. Designed on the basis of an ergonomically perfect workshop, all tools and utensils in WORK’s kitchen are easily accessible at each work station. With the chaos of everyday life, this kitchen design is a pleasure to prepare and cook meals like a gourmet chef with your loved ones and guests.

Dornbracht‘s newest series, VAIA, will brighten up your bathroom this Spring. Shown here in vibrant Platinum Matte, the Vaia series incorporates a soft, balanced design language and an attitude that is always receptive to anything new. Its delicate spout picks up a traditional shape and transposes it to a new, more open silhouette. There is a traditional feel to the handles as well – available as cross-handles or levers, they combine geometric shapes and soft contours. The rosettes are tapered, creating an especially smooth transition to the washstand.

And finally, the 50-Star Stella Chandelier from Moderne Living is the perfect statement piece for your home this season. The billowing luminosity of the Stella chandelier instantly captivates. Delicately suspended to produce clusters of radiance, this lighting piece will create a contemporary aesthetic while infusing your home with cool luster. Available in a choice of 5, 12, 25, 50, 105, or 150 pendant stars in transparent Pyrex glass, and internal bulbs in either halogen lights or LED lighting. Painted glass support in white, black lacquer or mirror finish, and can be customized in various dimensions.

Happy Spring from all of us at the River North Design District in Chicago!
