On Friday, April 28th, the Lake Forest Showhouse & Gardens hosted a preview party in this year’s house: an east Lake Forest estate designed by architect Howard Van Doren Shaw.
Since 1985, the Lake Forest Showhouse & Gardens has featured the talents of area designers to raise more than $3 million for the Infant Welfare Society of Chicago. The 2017 Lake Forest Showhouse & Gardens was decorated by 30 interior and landscape designers, including 4 River North Design District (RNDD) Designer Members: Michael Del Piero Good Design, Donna Mondi Interior Design, Sweet Peas Design, and Gray|Walter.
The Lake Forest Showhouse is open to the public for tours through May 21. 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Tickets are $37, and you can purchase them online here: www.lakeforestshowhouse.com/eventtickets.html
Michael Del Piero Good Design designed this year’s Living Room.
Michael Del Piero used texture and scale to dramatically transform the living room. With a rug from fellow RNDD member Oscar Isberian draped over the coffee table, and a stone wall fireplace, she was able to add incredible warmth and beauty to the space. Photo by Janet Mesic Mackie.
Donna Mondi Interior Design designed this year’s Coach House Back Bedroom.
The Donna Mondi Interior Design (DMID) team transformed a coach house bedroom from drab to fab with a stunning lounge space filled with luxurious gold accents.
Sweet Peas Design designed this year’s Master Bedroom.
Susan Brunstrum created a livable and luxurious space where the bed is the centerpiece of the room. She custom designed the upholstered frame with curved wings at the head and foot, and centered it in the room to facilitate the flow of dreams, ideas and imagination.

Gray|Walter designed this year’s Second Floor Nook and Landing.
Kenneth Walter took the Nook at the very top of the stairs, and turned it into a quiet respite to read a book or simply rest while the sunshine pours through the window. The Hall contains a fun assortment of furnishings: mid-century furniture, glamorous lighting from Europe, and a small sampling of their world class art collection. The painting at the top of the stair by Miyake is a real show stopper. Details abound: the stunning woodwork, plaster walls glazed with stenciling, and interesting carpets placed randomly.
