As we welcome a new year, let’s take a look back at the highlights of 2015.

Events for 2015 were a huge success.

This past September the River North Design District participated in the Fall Gallery Walk. Each showroom exhibited works of art curated by Daniel Kinkade of Daniel Kinkade Fine Art. Participating showrooms included Lightology, Florense, The Tile Gallery, TOTO, Chicago Luxury Beds, Studio 41, Montauk, Organic Looms, and Oscar Isberian Rugs.  This was by far the most successful event of the year, and will return in 2016!

RNDD member Chicago Luxury Beds hosted Dreaming by Design, another event that will make a comeback this year. This event was the talk of the town throughout the design community. Designers such as Michael Del Piero and Kenneth Walter created bedscapes that remained on display well after the event.

Kitchen remodeling has been trending for years, homeowners are obsessed with combining design and functionality. Hence RNDD’s Speaker Series: Why Kitchens Matter (So Much), moderated by Chicago Tribune’s Cindy Dampier. She and Barbara Ballinger (The Kitchen Bible) tackled the do’s and don’t of a kitchen remodel, followed by a Q+A. Panelists included Susan Brunstrom, Michael Del Piero and Janet Shiff.

We gained new members.

Gallerie One made a major change by moving outside of the Merchandise Mart, after calling it home for 26 years. Their next move was to join RNDD! Gallerie One specializes in a variety of hand woven designer
