Montauk Sofa, Chieftain Chair- Montauk Sofa is proud to unveil the Cheiftain Chair. Danish designer, Finn Juhl Chieftain in 1949, originally designed this iconic chair. Juhl was known for his unusual, sculptural pieces with designs clearly influenced by Modern and Abstract art. The Chieftain’s Chair was designed for the Cabinetmakers’ Guild in Copenhagen and inspired from primitive weaponry. During the exhibition, King Frederick IX sat in his chair and suggested calling it The King’s Chair. In true understated, Danish style, Juhl didn’t care for the pretentious nature of that name and said “You’d better call it a Chieftain’s chair” to the journalist – and so it became The Chieftain’s chair. Available in teak and leather in cognac, black, white and brown. Please visit http://www.montauksofa.com for more information.
Organic Looms, Benares Collection- Unveiled to the public for the first time, the Benares Collection is sumptuous and luxurious- perfect for a more formal space. With a twist on the traditional, these patterns have been rejuvenated with bright colors, broken patterns and are available with or without a long silk fringe. Revered for their modern Tibetan rugs, Organic Looms expands their offerings with a transitional line of wool and silk blends. The Benares Collection is named after the ancient city in India famous for its rugs and this collection pays homage to the beauty and tradition of Indian Culture. Each of the three patterns is named after the “Ghats”, the most valuable assets of the city of Varanasi. Each Ghat dots the 7 km arc line of the Ganges riverfront between the confluence of the River Asi in the south and the Varuna in the north. The collection is comprised of 3 patterns, Daini, Koat and Dasa. As with all of Organic Looms rugs, custom colors and sizes are available along with limited quantities of stock. All rugs are hand woven in India and Nepal adhering to fair labor practices.
